POSITION: Oncology Clinical Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: South Bend Clinic Day Road
POSITION SUMMARY: Administers nursing care to chemo and non-chemo infusion patients. Interacts with staff and physicians as patient care issues or complaints arise. Assists the Practice Manager in handling all staff scheduling and adjustments to schedules based on patient needs. Assesses patient volumes and makes recommendations for template changes so that all patients can be seen quickly and efficiently. Assures that staff, drugs, and supplies meet the needs of the patient schedules. Assists with keeping all drug administration protocols current and that all staff are following protocols.

INFUSION RN ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
a. Understand and follow physician instructions and verbal orders.
b. Perform lab draws, injections, and initiate, care for, and monitoring IV’s.
c. Obtain and document consents for procedures appropriately.
d. Correctly dispose of sharps and cytotoxic waste.
e. Accurately document patient phone calls in EMR.
f. Perform duties of RN in an Infusion Center setting, such as, required monitoring and recording of vitals as specified, either by a physician order or requirements of a specific drug.
g. Educate and teach patients on new drugs that will be administered to patients.
h. Correctly calculate dosages and mixture of drugs and be knowledgeable of common side effects of infusion drugs.
i. Respond appropriately to changes in patient status such as allergic reactions or other adverse reactions.
j. Stock rooms, nursing carts, crash cart and updating of crash cart, patient drinks and snacks on a daily basis.
k. All patient areas must be cleaned daily with disinfectant cleanser.
l. Exhibits computer systems knowledge and proficiency as necessary to perform job functions.
m. Demonstrates the attitudes and behaviors of The South Bend Clinic Service Standards.
n. Performs other duties as assigned when appropriate.
o. Adheres to HIPAA guidelines set forth in Clinic policies and procedures.
CLINICAL COORDINATOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
a. Schedule all staff for assigned department according to the department needs.
b. Assess workflow of departments and adjust staffing on a daily basis or as needed.
c. Manage all timecards for staff for assigned dept.
d. Assure all infusions are scheduled and administered in a timely manner, adjusting templates as needed.
e. Oversee all medication orders such that the correct drugs are available for the scheduled patients.
f. Oversee medication protocols including updating, adding new protocols as needed.
g. Coordinating equipment and supply needs.
h. Addressing and as appropriate working to resolve customer complaints at the point of care.
i. Initiating follow-up for incident reports as appropriate.
j. Other duties specific to the departments of practice.

Registered nurse with a valid Indiana State RN license.
Healthcare provider CPR certification.
ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Minimum one year experience related to area of hire. Candidate chosen must be able to multi-task and succeed in fast pace environment. Must be team-oriented, patient advocate, compassionate and possess good work ethic.
Must be able to be flexible with schedule and scheduling of patients
