    HIM Tech II - Warehouse

    POSITION SUMMARY:  Knowledgeable in all tasks noted in job description for the HIM Tech position.  Manages HIM warehouse operation for Record Retention, and performs space utilization and record keeping for all retained and destroyed charts.  Gathers and maintains statistical data for chart locations and destruction.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Maintains organization of the off-site warehouse and ensures that medical records can be found quickly and efficiently through appropriate box labeling and computer records of box and chart locations.
    2. Facilitates appropriate storage and rotation of other SBC department retention, working through department managers to monitor retention and destruction guidelines.
    3. Functions as primary contact for SBC’s document destruction vendor, coordinating placement of locked PHI receptacles, their routine pick-up, and the bi-annual destruction of warehouse retention as it matures.
    4. Trains appropriate staff to the warehouse operation to allow for the safe retrieval of medical records and the subsequent computer entries necessary to effect finding and retrieving stored material.
    5. Assists in the release of information function by researching historical purged records.
    6. Performs the physical work required at the warehouse as needed.

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    Education/Certification/License: 

    Vocational training or experience in warehouse management, healthcare related preferred. 
     

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Basic computer data entry into Excel, use of Outlook e-mail is needed, and minimal use of NextGen chart movement program (on the job training provided for this skill).

     

    Special Demands/Requirements:

    Extreme physical requirements include working in extreme temperatures of cold and heat periodically, and the ability to lift and stack 75 pounds from ground to 5 feet required. Must possess a valid driver’s license and motivation to work independently.
