POSITION:  Phone Triage - MA/LPN

REPORTS TO:  Practice Manager

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

  1. Answers and welcomes patients on the phone in a professional, respectful, and confidential manner.
  2. Provides appropriate triage and assessment of the medical and service needs of patients to ensure high quality care and optimal patient flow.
  3. Communication of all patient care is thorough, objective, concise, and follows appropriate compliance guidelines.
  4. Documentation of all patient care is thorough, objective, concise, and follows appropriate compliance guidelines.
  5. Utilizes all pertinent functions of the phone system in directing calls to appropriate staff and/or service areas, ensuring minimal transferring.
  6. Utilizes computer system accurately and efficiently for patient registration, appointment scheduling, and phone messaging.
  7. Communicates effectively with patients, staff, physicians, and other service areas with professionalism, appropriate follow through utilizing telephone, computer, and fax.
  8. Accurately and discreetly schedules, reschedules, cancels, and/or confirms patient appointments with provider per department protocols.
  9. Applies knowledge of general insurance guidelines and requirements to help direct patient care.
  10. Observes department conditions and activities taking appropriate action to deliver a positive patient experience.
  11. Exhibits computer systems knowledge and proficiency as necessary to perform job functions.
  12. Responds appropriately to emergency situations.
  13. Takes initiative to seek out tasks and duties or to assist others as necessary.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned when appropriate.
  15. Cross trains in other positions where appropriate as determined by manager.
  16. Adheres to HIPAA guidelines.
  17. Exhibits computer systems knowledge and proficiency as necessary to perform job functions.
  18. Demonstrates the attitudes and behaviors of The South Bend Clinic Service Standards.
  19. Performs other duties as assigned when appropriate.
  20. Adheres to HIPAA guidelines set forth in Clinic policies and procedures.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education/Certification/License:
Prefer experience as a MA/LPN in a medical office.  Must be Certified or Registered Medical Assistant or have completed a Medical Assisting program or a gradaute of a LPN program.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to multi-task, be organized, and must enjoy a fast paced environment. Previous experience is a plus.
