POSITION: Pharmacist

 

DEPARTMENT: Pharmacy

 

POSITION SUMMARY: Participates in the pharmacy program in accordance with all federal and state laws relating to the storage, compounding and distribution of drugs. Oversees acquisition, storage and inventory maintenance of pharmaceutical medications and supplies.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Oversees 3rd party plan processing, trouble shooting, and reconciliation regarding online processing of pharmacy claims.
  2. Responsible for providing friendly and efficient pharmacy care to all customers.

  3. Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area in order to maximize efficiency of the pharmacy, minimize errors, and promote excellent service.

  4. Provides counsel to patients on prescription and non-prescription medications.

  5. Provides drug information to physician offices via phone, fax, and email.

  6. Assures compliance with pharmacy laws and regulations.
  7. Obtains authorization for pharmacy services as requested; validate insurance coverage and communication with patients.
  8. Perform computer entry of prescription information including, but not limited to: patient search, prescriber search, drug selection, prescription interpretation & entry, insurance billing and basic problem resolution.
  9. Supervises activity of a pharmacy technician.
  10. Responsible for overseeing the prescription filling process including Drug Utilization Review, interactions, etc.
  11. Responsible for inventory including return of outdated/recalled medications.
  12. Exhibits computer systems knowledge and proficiency as necessary to perform job functions.

  13. Demonstrates the attitudes and behaviors of The South Bend Clinic Service Standards.
  14. Adheres to HIPAA guidelines set forth in Clinic policies and procedures.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education/Certification/License:

Minimum of Bachelor’s degree. Current Pharmacy and state licensure are required.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Previous experience managing Pharmacy operations is required. Retail experience is beneficial. Excellent customer service skills are required.
